th ANNIVERSARY PARTY

THE AFTERMATH

Wow—my expectations of the anniversary/CD release party in Gloucester were met ten fold! I have never felt so loved by a large group of people. A big thank you to Louise Welch, Jimmy Lounsbury, and Laura Ritchie for throwing me the most amazing pre-show party—that continued after the show too! As far as the show went—Barbara & Dave Koen set the bar very high by playing this unique genre that was one part jazz, one part Latin, one part ’60s psychedelic folk/rock. Their performance was so good that Willie Alexander’s chest was shaking by the time they finished, knowing he would have to follow them. But once the Loco man hit the stage there was no question that he was making it his night. On solo piano he banged out classic hits about the Rat and Mass. Ave. and mixed it with his newer material from the Vincent Ferrini album. Ed Moose Savage grabbed the mic after Willie’s last song and insisted, with the agreement of all, that he play one more. Great. Now I have to get up there—I knew I had to do my best to retain any respect as a musician. I played an abridged version of my one-man folk rock opera of Why Do We Go to War?—complete with between song narration, male/female acting/singing, and getting members of the audience to participate as protestors. After I ended Salem News reporter, Brian Watson, told me I should be playing this material in theatres like the Shubert in New York. I know that it would work. How do I get it there?

OCTOBER 9th IS A BIG DAY—

TWO SEPARATE IMPORTANT SHOWS

DJ Mätthew Griffin has put together a most amazing hardcore punk show in Worcester on October 9th. It will be the Noise’s second 30th Anniversary Party. Playing at the Raven are Iron Cross, For the Worse, Antibodies, Revilers, Antietam, the Clozapines, You’re Under Arrest, and Institutionalized. It’s an 18-plus show that starts at 3:00 PM. Now this is not all that makes October 9th so big—I’m doing my CD release party in Lowell that same night. Come on down (or up) to Gallery 119 where I’ll have Melvern Taylor as my special guest.
